The Plastic + Hand Surgery Center
Medical advances in recent years mean that many of the surgical procedures that used to require overnight stays in a hospital can now be performed safely on an outpatient basis. The Plastic + Hand Surgery Center is an outpatient surgery facility located on-site. Opened in 1987, it was one of Maine’s first day surgery facilities.
Experienced nurses and physician assistants staff two full-scale operating rooms. An anesthesiologist from Spectrum Medical Group, the physician group that provides anesthesia at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland and Biddeford campuses, provides anesthesia care for our patients.
The Plastic + Hand Surgery Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory HealthCare, Inc. It is also Medicare-certified and licensed by the State of Maine.
Our facility meets the same state and federal requirements as hospital-based outpatient surgery units. We provide our patients with safe, individualized surgical care in a comfortable, efficient and private setting.
